Cuts, Wounds, Scratches
Aromatherapy
The essential oils of lavender, tea tree, rosemary, and myrrh are ideal for treating superficial wounds. Simply clean the wound, then place a drop of one of these oils directly on the affected area to prevent infection and speed healing.
Ayurvedic Medicine
To help heal minor cuts and scratches, clean the affected skin, then apply a paste of turmeric and aloe vera gel. Turmeric imparts a yellow stain to fabric and skin. Then loosely bandage the area.
Homeopathy
Homeopathic practitioners advise, as a first step, using soap and warm water to wash minor cuts, scrapes, and wounds. Then apply Calendula ointment to prevent infection and help healing. Alternatively, you can wash the cut or scrape with a blend of 20 drops each of Calendula and Hypericum tinctures and 1/2 cup water. Then, soak a sterile gauze pad with the mixture and place it over the affected area. Change the dressing several times daily until the cut has healed.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture Acupuncture can help improve the flow of blood to the affected area, which reduces swelling and speeds healing, while carrying infection-causing toxins away from the injury. Acupuncture also can be used to block pain and/or release phins, which can help eliminate pain.
Chinese Herbal Therapy There are several Chinese herbs used as external washes or ointments to cleanse, soothe, and hasten the healing of cuts, scratches, and other skin irritations.
More serious wounds can be treated With Yunnan Bai Yao (a formula containing pseudo
ginseng). This preparation has antiseptic and clotting properties.
